Starting December 2015, BMIC launched its new SRC (Sulphate Resisting Cement) in a strategic step to diversify its market products with a new developed one.
Sulfate-Resisting Cement is used only in concrete exposed to severe sulfate action - principally where soils or groundwater has high sulfate content. It is specified with low Tricalcium Aluminate (C3A) content, generally less than 3.5%, as required when high sulfate resistance is needed.
A properly designed concrete for use in aggressive environments needs to have an appropriate cementitious content, a low water: cement ratio, and be well compacted and cured. It is recommended that specialist advice be obtained during the project design stage to ensure that the concrete is adequate for the expected service. A concrete designed to provide improved sulphate resistance should have greatly reduced permeability which should also provide increased resistance to the penetration of chloride ions, reducing the risk of corrosion in reinforcing steel.

To minimise the risk of chemical attack resulting in concrete deterioration and structural failure, Sulphate Resisting Cement should be specified in the following applications:
• Geothermal areas
• Sewerage treatment plants
• Mines and other acidic soil environments
Environments with structures susceptible to chemical attack To minimise the risk of chloride induced corrosion in reinforcing steel and to ensure long-term durability, Sulfate Resisting Cement should be specified in the following applications:
• Wharfs and marinas
• Sea walls, dams and reservoirs
• Water and sewage pipelines and treatment plants
• Off-shore platforms
• Bridges and any other submerged structures in tidal and splash zones
Al Tameer Al Mokawem Cement is used as a construction material in all of concrete construction applications as reinforced foundations and sanitation and water tanks also bridges foundations and piles… etc. , and in all constructions and buildings that have a direct exposure to the effect of sulphates.
It is recommended to re-test the product after six weeks of production date.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin since it may cause allergic reactions
Gloves, goggles, and a filter mask should be used for protection, and hands should be washed after contact
After any cement sets, the hardened mass loses chemical reactivity and can be safely touched without gloves.
Available in standard packing of 50 KG in paper bag, jumbo plastic bags of 500Kg/ 1000Kg/ 1500Kg, or in bulk as per requirement of users.
Cement should preferably be stored in dry places, on elevated wooden planks to keep piles away from moist ground
For extra safety during rain, or when the bags are to be stored for long periods, cover the pile with a polythene sheet
Keep the stacked pile up to a maximum of 10 bags high
Before setting, cement could be easily washed off with running water.
After setting, using mechanical methods.
It is advisable and recommended to follow local environmental instructions and regulations during the disposal of cement. It is not to be disposed of into water or arable soil.
